Every CATIA assembly should be saved into the
SmarTeam database. After you create a new assembly or modify an existing
one, choose one of the Save options. Then, check in the assembly
by choosing Lifecycle > Check In. The assembly is then placed
into the Checked In vault.
The SmarTeam integrated menu provides two methods for saving Assemblies:

Document Content ExposureWhen you save CATProduct documents, the associated internal components are by default exposed in the database:
However, you can expose only the documents and their links as shown below:
